Letter: Dunleavy’s emergency alert

Gov. Mike Dunleavy’s emergency alert stunt occurred while my grandson was in the middle of a zoom class, disrupting everybody in the class. My phone went off, but the information about the alert did not remain on the screen. I (and many others) could not retrieve the message from my phone. Then followed searches of the earthquake, tsunami, and weather alert websites with no luck. The ADN did not have any timely information on its website. Twenty minutes later, I found the source of the bogus “emergency alert.”

Every cellphone in Alaska went off, disrupting and potentially endangering many citizens. Then it turns out that Gov. Dunleavy (true to Donald Trump form) had not even instituted a mask or distancing mandate. If we ever needed an additional indication of Dunleavy’s basic incompetence, this stunt was a great example. Somebody needs to take that emergency alert button away from him. Just be thankful that he doesn’t have the nuclear button to play with.
