Letters to the Editor

Letter: No rest from drama

My fellow Anchorage Midtown voters, we shall receive no rest from election drama. What now, you ask? We must reject the recall petition against our Assemblymember, Felix Rivera.

Like most of my neighbors, I have been very appreciative of the steadfast work of our Assembly members and new acting mayor as we face the biggest health crisis of the last 100 years. I am grateful for their leadership and persistence, especially in the face of continual vulgarity from some of our reality-challenged friends. A small group of them are attempting to dig up any available inanity to force recall elections against our Anchorage members. After several failed petition attempts, they finally succeeded in accusing Rivera of “refusal to abide by the emergency order limitations on gathering size” because he was Assembly Chair when there were 17 people at a 15-person meeting. Yes, our great constitution does protect incessant whining.

We all need to be focused on defeating COVID-19. Anchorage voters do not have the time or money for these frivolous pursuits. Fellow Midtowners, please reject the recall petition and politely ignore the signature gatherers.
