Letter: Governor’s tantrum

It would appear that our governor is taking another page from the Trump playbook with his announcement concerning banks that have stopped financing Arctic oil projects. Like Donald Trump, Gov. Mike Dunleavy’s immediate instinct is to punish and retaliate — both exceedingly self-destructive and short-sighted measures that do not benefit Alaska at all.

Dunleavy says this will “protect Alaska’s economy.” I cannot think of anything worse for Alaska’s economy than to petulantly break ties with every important frontline financial institution in the country.

I can also assure you that these bankers in their Manhattan skyscrapers will be completely unmoved by Dunleavy’s tantrum.
