Letter: Vaccinate teachers

So, from what I am hearing, the Anchorage School District is going to start in-person learning in the classroom for kindergarten through second grade on Jan. 19, no matter what. According to the current vaccination guidelines, teachers and specialists for these grades are not scheduled to receive their vaccination until much later than this date.

I realize that parents are desperate to get their kids back in school. If everyone is so eager to get their kids back to school, why not put those teachers who are the first in line to teach first in line to receive the vaccine as well? Is there so little respect for teachers? I am not a teacher,  but have many friends who are. I don’t want to see any of them get sick in the classroom. And, if they do get sick, how are they going to be able to teach?
