Letter: 10 months in a leaky boat

To those folks holding up headstones of local businesses in the Assembly chambers: Do you think those businesses would have survived if they were in another town? Seattle or San Diego? London or Rome?

This is a global pandemic. The entire world is in life rafts right now. Our Alaska health officials have said that what we’ve been doing in Anchorage is keeping the transmission rate down to some of the lowest in this country.

If any of the protesters voted for Donald Trump or Mike Dunleavy, I advise them to leave their headstones at home and don’t blame the municipal government. This crisis of leadership comes from the top. All those at the local level are just trying to plug the holes in our boat.
