Letter: Safeguards work

Let’s check the numbers: Back in mid-2020, when the daily number of new COVID-19 cases was in the high hundreds, the number from the Anchorage area was about half the statewide number. This was reasonable, as close to half the state population is in this area.

For the latter part of the year, after our mayor instituted stricter mask and gathering guidelines, the daily Anchorage area COVID-19 number dropped to about a third of the statewide number. It remains one-fourth to one-third of the total, still with roughly half the population.

Pay attention, people!
