Letter: Vote no on Rivera recall

We are active members of our community council. Assembly Chairman Felix Rivera regularly and actively participates in our monthly meetings. He provides clear, unbiased, timely information about the Assembly’s business. He works hard and answers our questions straightforwardly. He clearly has the respect of the other elected officials in attendance. In a nutshell, Felix Rivera tackles the tough issues and has done an excellent job since he was first elected to the Assembly.

Based on the information in Anchorage’s 2021 ballot recall statement and ADN’s Nov. 6 article, the allegation (two extra people in the Assembly Chamber during a COVID-19 restriction) falls short. It seems minor, weak and questionable, especially since the city didn’t verify the allegation. Furthermore, the municipal attorney’s subsequent legal analysis indicated that the claimed action did not constitute “misconduct in office” for the purposes of legal sufficiency of a recall application.”

On April 6, vote no on the recall of Assembly Chairman Felix Rivera.
