Letter: True colors

I recently read mayoral candidate Dave Bronson’s letter to the Anchorage Police Department. What he said in this letter disturbs me. He went on about how he supports the police and has their backs. He further singled out antifa and Black Lives Matter as anti-American and violent.

I was stunned that he made no mention of the violence toward police during the Capitol insurrection Jan. 6, including the beating of a police officer with a flagpole with the American flag attached, and others spraying bear spray in the faces of law enforcement. More than 140 officers were injured at the Capitol that day.

In addition, he made no mention of the other groups, such as the Boogaloo Bois (who have targeted and murdered police and infiltrated peaceful protests to cause violence), Proud Boys and other alt-right and/or white supremacist groups. The Department of Homeland Security and other agencies have labeled white supremacists as a major terrorism threat in the U.S. Mr. Bronson’s complete omission of them in his letter to the police is appalling and shows his true colors.

This, in addition to the fact that he has little plan besides dealing with the “vagrants” and opening up Anchorage, makes him a poor choice for mayor. Bronson tries to portray himself as a “center-right” candidate. I don’t buy that. He is about as far right as they come.
