Letter: Mental health regression

Going back 100 years, we handcuffed and jailed our citizens who experienced mental illness. We are doing that now with our homeless untreated folks with a mental illness. Local state and federal mental health funding and finding available professionals to work with these folks is pathetic.

This is a problem that existed pre-pandemic. Our jail and Mental Health Court in Anchorage are doing the best they can know how to work with our folks with a mental illness, but there are very limited services afterwards. We can improve the standard of care by going back 40 years.
