Letter: Quit the constitutional convention talk

Regarding the reported groundswell of support building in the Legislature and various fringe groups for a constitutional convention: Would you give the keys to your ‘50s Cadillac to a bunch of undisciplined, squabbling 15-year-olds and say “Take her out for a spin and open her up?” I sure wouldn’t! And I can only imagine what I’d get back after the ride was over.

Hey legislators, get back to work! Compromise, complete the business we elected you to complete with no additional drama or party-line nonsense. Then go home. Leave talk of a constitutional convention to future Alaskans that may have more vision, honesty, nonpartisanship and true Alaska spirit than you have.
