Letter: Get the shot

While doing my walks around Cuddy Park lately, I’ve noticed with approval the long lines of cars waiting for a COVID-19 test at the test station in the library parking lot. Then, today, a question struck me. Why would people wait in line to get a test that will be invalid tomorrow or the next day, when they could be lined up to get the vaccination itself?

If you’re worried enough to get yourself tested, what do you expect to do if the test turns out positive? It’s too late to get the shot and hope its protection will be retroactive — about all you can do is wait and see if you’ll be one of the serious or fatal cases.

C’mon, folks: If you’re going to take the time and trouble to get the test, just get the shot! It hurts less than a swab up the nose.
