Letter: Elite benefits and voting rights

Alaska Air “elite” member David LeNorman suggested the airline give him more miles than he actually flew because he doesn’t like that he won’t be fed while flying due to the pandemic. I’m also “elite,” and greatly relieved. Anything that adds one more layer of preventing COVID-19, such as continual masking and no exceptions, is fine.

My concern in politics and public statements is the bizarre attack on our democratic republic. Lies from Trump cult members that the election was stolen, that somehow it was Democrats stormed the Capital on Jan. 6, 2021 — how dishonest. Democrats had just won the presidential election by millions of votes. Republicans have changed voting laws in 17 states, limiting access to millions of voters — most of whom are Democrats, by design. If they can’t win legally, they will get their cult to try to steal an election by making it impossible for people with two jobs and kids at home to vote.

I owe allegiance to no political party, but the Republicans have lost my decades of many votes.
