Letter: Russia’s Ukraine pretexts

It appears that Russia is now undertaking a “false flag” operation, sending saboteurs into eastern Ukraine to stage an incident that could provide a pretext for ordering an invasion of parts or all of that country.

Hasn’t Vladimir Putin learned anything from history? Why go to all that trouble when he could simply accuse Ukraine of developing and stockpiling “weapons of mass destruction”?
