Letter: Put the change down

Maybe this is a small issue, yet may be serious in preventing folks from getting sick and/or the COVID-19 virus. Whenever we go to stores and businesses we are needing to wear a mask, stay safely distanced, use anti-bacterial wipes, cover coughing or sneezing, and stay home if not feeling well.

Yet almost daily, wherever we go, the cashier or attendant will touch our hands and fingers giving change, receipts or items. The employee has undoubtedly touched dozens of other customers’ hands and fingers throughout the day, then possibly sharing or transmitting to others, especially the elderly.

I ask these workers just to please place the change on the counter or other safer manner. Maybe this will help stop the spread of even the flu.
