Les Gara and Jessica Cook are a power team regarding education. As a teacher of 28 years, they have my vote! Though Walker-Drygas are my second choice, the decisions to cut education and debt reimbursement for schools during the 2015 Walker administration determined my preference.
Les has been a champion for schools by voting for adequate funding and supporting social programs that are key to successful students. I have seen the challenges that meet our students outside the school walls. Schools are being called upon to address a need for more counseling, behavioral supports, and special education services.
As a current teacher, Jessica Cook knows the reality of these issues and has firsthand knowledge of what it takes to improve the outcomes of our struggling schools. Top-down solutions have not addressed the problems and practical teaching experience is not considered.This team can take on education in our state; it will be placed as a priority in their administration. A highly educated workforce in academics and trades is what will make our state prosper and Les and Jessica have the goods to make that happen.
