Letter: Thanks, Martha’s Vineyard

Where is the outrage and disgust at the callous treatment of immigrant families who came to this great nation to contribute with dignity and honor to the “land of the free, home of the brave?”

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is a coward. He preaches the virtues of the covenant, yet shamefully treats women and children as political pawns in an escalating war of power politics. Look at the wonderful people of Martha’s Vineyard: true heroes, who embraced these displaced families with warm hugs, hot meals, compassion and respect. Have we all lost our way in a world that has become so tragically hostile and dark?

Thank you to the good folks of Martha’s Vineyard for understanding that we really are “one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.” My dear parents, children of immigrants and both World War II veterans, would be very proud of you, just as I am.
