Letter: Russia’s flag in Anchorage

Recently, a Ukrainian friend brought to my attention that the Russian flag is prominently hoisted near the Anchorage downtown bus terminal. I’m not sure who is responsible for this display.

Right now, when the U.S. is supporting and defending Ukraine from Russian dictator and war criminal Vladimir Putin, it seems very inappropriate to fly Russia’s flag. I would be very much in favor of taking down the Russian flag and hoisting the Ukrainian flag next to our U.S. flag.

My wife and her sister are hosting two Ukrainian families in their home in Munich, Germany. Those families and their Ukrainian neighbors suffered great losses in their home country.

Let us hope and pray for peace in the near future.
