Letter: Eastman is justified

Now that Rep. David Eastman has been exonerated and can retain his legislative seat, his detractors apparently must look for new ways to badmouth and bang at him.

Looks like their latest avenue is his “Alaska courts have been weaponized...” statement, which is supposed to be an awful thing to say. On the contrary, it is quite reasonable for Eastman to be upset at what happened and lash out.

The judge should have dismissed this filing and stated that there would be no trial, because there was no reasonable evidence for what he was being accused of.

Instead, he was forced to hire lawyers at great expense. And of course, he will now be criticized for trying to get donations to help pay the bills.
