Letter: Assembly housing plan

Kudos to Felix Rivera and Anna Brawley for their commentary in ADN on Nov. 12. I hope everyone will read it and follow the call for community commitment to address the shortage of housing in Anchorage.

The commentary clearly explains the role of the Assembly in setting policy, including code changes, resolutions and policy direction, and using a limited but powerful toolbox to remove barriers the Assembly has control or influence over.

The Assembly’s Housing Action Strategic Plan discussed at the Housing Action Summit meeting sets out clear goals and steps. I hope everyone will accept the call to become engaged to try to provide abundant and affordable housing options. The Assembly has requested input from the community as they revise, approve, and keep working on their strategic plan. Let’s do it!
