As many nations prepare for nuclear war, I asked Municipality of Anchorage, Assembly, “Have you any plan to build nuclear fallout shelters to save, at least, our government officials, EMS, police, and surgeons?” I did not get any answer. Fairbanks and Anchorage may be the first targets!
To save money, I suggest fallout shelters may be used in peacetime to shelter homeless people in winter, and everybody during natural disasters, which are becoming more frequent and severe. China does this now.
The Russian Federation, Switzerland, China, Romania and Finland already have built such shelters. Anne Kauranen reported in Reuters on Aug. 29, 2023 that Finland has 50,500 shelters. Please, ask our state legislators to begin planning and building nuclear fallout civil defense shelters for Alaska.
