Watch these dogs — with a father and son in tow — race across a frozen Eklutna Lake

Dogs Piper and Akwe raced across the frozen Eklutna Lake on New Year's Day with Carl Oswald and his 10-year-old son, Elias, in tow.

Oswald's brother, Peter, skated alongside the father-son-dog team and took this video with his iPhone.

It was the perfect day for ice skating, Peter Oswald said. A lot of other people thought so, too. He estimated there were roughly 100 people at Eklutna Lake on Monday afternoon, including the Oswalds, who live in Anchorage, and some of their friends.

"We knew it was going to be good ice skating, so we called everybody we knew," he said.
