Trump comes to Alaska

Earlier this summer, former President Donald Trump made good on his vow to come to Alaska. Thousands of people attended a July 9th rally in Anchorage, where Trump campaigned in support of the Republican candidates he’s endorsed – and against Senator Lisa Murkowski, one of just seven Republican senators who voted to impeach him in the wake of the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol.

A year-and-a-half after leaving office, Trump’s influence over the GOP remains strong, both nationally and in Alaska.

On this episode, ADN politics reporter Iris Samuels explains what happened at Trump’s first rally in the state and what his endorsement means in Alaska’s races for U.S. House, Senate and the governor’s office.

Host: Elizabeth Harball. Guest: Iris Samuels. Produced by Elizabeth Harball, Zachariah Hughes and Evan Phillips. Editor: David Hulen.
