From David Hulen in Anchorage --

That's Rep. Don Young talking trash about one of his opponents, apparently Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell, in a story on the Alaska Public Radio Network last night about the U.S. House election. It's about 1:45 into the piece, and Young is being questioned by APRN reporter Libby Casey in Washington a couple weeks ago. It's before Young cuts off the interview.

Young: "Who says I'm facing a tough battle in the primary?"

Reporter: "Let me rephrase, you're facing a tougher challenge in the primary than you have in recent years..."

Young: "I'm facing the second primary I've ever had, and I will win the primary and I will win the general election. You don't need Captain Zero. You need somebody who can do the job back here, and I'm one who can do the job, have been doing the job, and again it's not about me, it's about the state. That's enough. I've said all I'm going to say."

Reporter: "OK..."

Young: "I said we're through."

"OK."

In an interview earlier this summer with the ADN, Young called Parnell, "A zero."
