Palin considering Senate run 'because people have requested' it

Will she or won't she? Former Gov. Sarah Palin threw a Senate salvo Tuesday, telling conservative talk radio host Sean Hannity she might pursue a U.S. Senate seat in 2014.

Kind of.

"I've considered it because people have requested me considering it, but I'm still waiting to see what the lineup will be and hoping that ... there will be some new blood, some new energy," the former governor told her Fox News Channel co-worker during an appearance on his radio show, according to Politico.

Whether Palin will actually run to represent Alaska in the Senate seems unlikely. After abruptly resigning as governor in 2009, Palin has remained mum on Alaska issues, instead focusing her attention on national issues, primarily as contributor to Fox News.

Palin did broach an Alaska topic by criticizing the leadership of Sen. Mark Begich and saying "he's on the wrong side of the aisle." Listen to Palin's appearance embedded below (from WABC via Mediaite).

Palin isn't the first Republican to consider a run against Begich. Alaska Lt. Gov. Mead Treadwell announced his candidacy in June, and Joe Miller, the failed 2010 Republican nominee for Senate, filed a statement of candidacy with the Federal Election Commission in May.
