Dozens of people on skis, fat-tire bikes and on foot made their way to Portage Glacier on Tuesday as temperatures hovered around 40 degrees.

The event, part of the annual Arctic Encounter Symposium, combined traditional and contemporary designs.

Upcoming parties will be held Feb. 11 and 25 from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Anchorage Parks and Recreation hosted this year’s third Family Skate which featured a plastic seal race, food truck and prizes. The weekly event continues every Saturday through February.

Courses ranged from 25 to 43 miles. Laura Fox and Will Ross were this year’s long-course winners.
