Goose auction, other Christmas dinner goodies for sale Wednesday

If you're planning a Dickensian Christmas dinner and haven't been able to track down a goose to roast, good news: AD Farm will be auctioning two of them off at the Northway Mall (indoor!) farmers' market on Wednesday, Dec. 22. Farmer Alex Davis also has duck eggs and all kinds of meat and vegetables. Here's the e-mail he sent to customers today:

Are you wondering what could possibly be "new" at the farmers' market in the Northway Mall this Wed? We I have news for you we will be having 2 goose auctions, one at 12:00 and one at 4:00. I have 2 extra geese in the freezer as of last Friday and I thought it would be fun to have an auction to get them to a home in time for a Christmas dinner. But there is more, my egg producing friend got me 2 dozen duck eggs last week and we are hoping to be able to work up to about 7 dozen a week, it may take a little while to get there but we should have more every week until the birds are up to speed. Speaking of birds that are up to speed she's got 250 young hens that are laying like mad, we expect to have about 100 dozen at the market this week, last week I had 96 dozen and yes I am selling them. We also have chops, roast, ham steak, side pork, breakfast sausage, spicy sausage, Italian sausage, ground pork, back fat for rendering for all sorts of uses, and sliced liver. On the vegetable end of the world we have our certified organic; German butterball potatoes, Yukon Gold potatoes, French Fingerling potatoes, red beets, cylindra beets, golden beets, chieoggia beets, purple carrots, yellow carrots, orange carrots, cabbage, kohlrabi, and parsnips. You can find us on the web at adfarmorganic.com

See you at the market.

Alex
