The prettiest candy in Alaska

I was standing on line at City Market this morning waiting to pay for my spring rolls when these caught my eye:

These "Northern Lights Crystals" are distributed by Northern Delights, a candy company based in Eagle River, and I was mesmerized enough by the colors that I didn't care whether or not they tasted good. (They do, in case you were wondering. That is, if you think sugar tastes good. Which I do.) Given the name and the rainbow of rock candy colors, they'd be the perfect snack for trying to catch some of this week's supposedly spectacular displays of northern lights. Plus, since they're pretty much pure sugar, they might also give you enough energy to stay up until it's dark enough to have a chance at actually seeing the aurora.

Northern Delights Northern Lights Crystals, $3.99 for 4 oz. at New Sagaya City Market, 900 W. 13th Ave. in Anchorage.
