Bouldering competition draws costumed climbers in Anchorage

Alaska Rock Gym hosted their Pumpkin Pump bouldering competition on Friday evening, Oct. 27, 2017. The event attracted 235 climbers in both kids and adult divisions, competing to tally the most points from the five most valuable routes, or "problems," they could complete in a timed period.

The Rock Gym's operations manager Eric Wickenheiser said the annual Halloween-themed event, during which costumes are encouraged, had long been a popular one at the gym's old location, but this is the first chance they've had to hold it in their new building on 33rd Avenue. Awards were handed out at various levels and prizes were given for best costumes.
