Photos: Mayoral candidates 'speed-date' voters

Lead:North, an Institute of the North leadership program for young professionals, hosted a "speed dating" event with Anchorage mayoral candidates at Snow Goose Restaurant on Thursday, March 26, 2015. Seven candidates participated. Prospective voters sat with candidates in small groups for five-minute intervals before a whistle blew to signal a switch to the next table. Nils Andreassen, executive director for Institute of the North, said he hoped the format would lead to more engaging discussion and two-way exchanges than in many other forum formats. "Hopefully it moves conversation behind the normal responses," he said.

Lance Ahern, Ethan Berkowitz, Dan Coffey, Dustin Darden, Amy Demboski, Andrew Halcro and Timothy Huit participated.

Candidates will be busy meeting with voters next week. The Anchorage Baptist Temple will be holding a candidates' fair for mayoral and school board candidates on Sunday, March 29, at 10:30 a.m. A KTUU-TV debate is scheduled for Wednesday, April 1, at 7 p.m., and a University of Alaska Anchorage debate will be held Thursday, April 2, at 7 p.m.
