Partow claims Raven Electric 10-Dog sprint title on day when Tetzner clocked fastest time

Sprint musher Doreen Tetzner clocked Sunday's fastest time but wasn't able to overtake overall leader Kourosh Partow in the final heat of the Raven Electric 10-Dog Championship.

Partow and his team of eight sled dogs took the championship with a three-day total time of 1 hour, 33 minutes, 27 seconds. Partow won the first two 10-mile heats at Tozier Track and was third in Sunday's.

Tetzner set the final-day pace with a run of 30:10. Jerry Woods was next in 30:47, followed by Partow in 31:03.

Woods placed second overall, trailing Partow's total time by more than two minutes. Tetzner, who was in fifth place after Friday's opening heat, wound up in third place overall, just 17 seconds behind Woods.

In earlier Alaskan Sled Dog & Racing Association competition Sunday at Tozier Track, Canada Maruskie mushed to the seven-dog victory in the ASDRA Junior Championships.

Johanna Badalich took the 5-dog title, John Wellman won the 3-dog title and Mira Franz topped the 2-dog competition.
