CIC softball: South, Service each grab 2 wins

South wins 2 to finish regular season undefeated

South grabbed two Cook Inlet Conference softball victories Saturday to finish the regular season undefeated with a 20-0 record.

The Wolverines shut out Eagle River 8-0 and beat West 6-2 in games at Albrecht Fields.

South pitcher Danni Desjarlais combined for two wins and 16 strikeouts in the two games.

Maddie Moser's triple and Ashton Jessee's double highlighted the Wolverine's 10 hits against the Wolves.

In the other game, West was led by Rebecca Syrup (1 triple) and Leslie Bingham (1 double).

Service grabs 2 wins

Haily Greening's five-RBI game spearheaded Service's first of two CIC softball wins Saturday.

The Cougars downed West 10-5 and Eagle River 11-8.

Greening drove in runs on a double in the first, a home run in the second, and a double in the fifth in the win over West. Alora Cotting earned the win for Service, fanning four batters and scattering five hits.

Against Eagle River, Service overcame an 8-8 tie in the top of the fourth inning when Sosefina Aukusitino doubled, driving in two runs.

A double by Eagle River's Serenity Argudin powered the Wolves in a big, six-run second inning.

Chugiak 14, Bartlett 9

Chugiak used balanced hitting to top Bartlett 14-9 in Saturday's CIC softball game at Bartlett.

Kylie Seagroves led the Mustangs with two RBIs and Gigi Montgomery, Madison Thompson and Gina Kodiak each drove in one.
