Is anything better than ski jumping under the midnight sun?

About 30 skiers jumped far into the evening of the summer solstice at the Karl Eid Ski Jumping Complex in Anchorage.

Ski jumpers with the Nordic Skiing Association of Anchorage took part in the first-ever Midnight Sun Ski Jump-A-Thon on Thursday. One of the highlights of the event featured the winners of the ski jump competitions jumping one after another at midnight.

Augie Martinez, who jumped 36 times on the 20-meter hill, executed the last jump of the event — around 2:30 a.m., event organizer Karen Compton said.

The Karl Eid Ski Jumps have a been a year-around ski jumping training site since 2016.
