Furloughed federal government workers can ride the tram for free Monday at Alyeska Resort.

The Girdwood ski area said Saturday that all furloughed employees and their families can ride the tram from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The free rides are for sight-seeing only – skiers will still need a lift ticket.

To ride the tram, bring a valid government-issued employee ID to the tram ticket office on the second floor of Hotel Alyeska.

Monday is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a federal holiday.
