Quin Cotton of the Mat-Su Miners was named the Alaska Baseball League Player of the Year, following a stellar regular season by league coaches and broadcasters Wednesday.

After finishing atop the ABL standings with a 30-14 league record, the Miners also led the five-team summer league with seven first-team members.

Cotton, a 5-foot-11 outfielder and soon-to-be sophomore at Grand Canyon University, led the league with a .331 batting average, 51 hits and 12 doubles. He also tallied 19 RBIs and hit two triples and two home runs.

Cotton also earned the Silver Slugger award and was a first-team outfielder.

Other major award winners included Todd Lott (Top Prospect, Anchorage Bucs), Jeremy Johnson (Gold Glove, Chugiak Chinooks), and Ken Hokuf (Coach of the Year, Anchorage Bucs). Hokuf coached the Bucs to a 24-20 league record and their first Mayor's Cup series title since 2014. The Mayor's Cup is an annual three-game series between the Bucs and the Anchorage Glacier Pilots.

Lott was also named a first-team outfielder. Kellen Strahm of the Oilers joined Lott and Cotton as a first-team outfielder and was also the second-team designated hitter.

The other multiple award winner was Tyler Wilburn of the Pilots. Wilburn earned recognition as a first-team relief pitcher and second-team closer.

The Pilots earned the most combined first and second team accolades with 11 (four first team, seven second team).
