Gutierrez flourishing in WHL, ditto for Bauer

To call Justin Gutierrez's season in the WHL a breakout campaign probably doesn't do justice to the explosive scoring he has furnished the Lethbridge Hurricanes.

Gutierrez, 20, owns 21-26--47 totals (all career highs) is 42 games this season. In the center's three previous full WHL seasons, all with Tri-City, he earned 18-41--57 totals in 59 games.

Gutierrez, a 6-foot-4, 200-pounder, has generated an eight-game point streak (6-10--16 totals), a seven-game streak (8-4--12), a six-game streak (3-4--7) and his current five-game streak (3-3--6).

Meanwhile, Anchorage center Lane Bauer continues to shine for the WHL's Edmonton Oil Kings.

Bauer, 19, in his third season in the WHL, owns 21-20--41 totals in 42 games. Last season, he went 25-30--55 in 71 games, so he's easily on pace for career numbers.
