Service, Eagle River post flag football wins

Service 39, South 13

The Service flag football team rallied from a two-touchdown deficit to beat South 39-13 Thursday at rainy Anchorage Football Stadium.

South (2-2) jumped to a 13-0 lead on a Sabrina Ungaro run and a McKinzie Smith interception return.

Julia Miknich's touchdown pass to Haleigh Van Allen and Zoe Bailey's interception return put Service in the lead, 14-13, but the Cougars (3-1) were just getting started.

Miknich threw three more touchdowns passes -- to Van Allen, Bailey and Kerianne Hansen -- and rushed for another.

Service's defense protected the lead by keeping pressure on the Wolverines. Alyssa Nanez and Lahronda Daniels teamed up for eight pulls for losses.

Eagle River 19, Chugiak 12

Tara Fisher's touchdown reception late in the third quarter Thursday provided insurance for Eagle River in a rain-soaked, 19-12 CIC flag football victory over Chugiak at Anchorage Football Stadium.

Lauren Frost had a hand in all three of the Wolves' touchdowns. She threw for two, connecting with Fisher and Lauryn Green, and rushed for another.
