Service stuns Dimond in semis

WASILLA -- For the first time in four seasons, the Dimond Lynx won't play for a Class 4A boys hockey state championship. It's Service's turn.

Sophomore goalie Cody Gongora stopped everything that came his way Friday night to shut out Dimond 2-0 and help send the Cougars into Saturday's championship game.

The Cougars, who finished fifth in the Cook Inlet Conference standings behind first-place Dimond, will go for their first state title since 2004. Theyplay the winner of the late South-Chugiak game.

Ryan Kowal led the way offensively forService with ashort-handed goal early in the second period.Logan Roundsput Dimond away with 18.7 left in the game with a long-rangeempty netter he shot from Service's zone.
