Prep volleyball: Dimond survives five-set battle with South

Dimond avenged an early-season loss to South with a five-set win over the Wolverines in a Friday night Cook Inlet Conference clash at South High.

The Lynx defeated the Wolverines 25-18, 22-25, 18-25, 25-22, 15-12.

Freshman Hahni Johnson nearly had a triple-double for Dimond. Johnson served nine aces to go along with 13 assists and 16 digs.

Brynn Sulte added 15 kills and Alissa Pili racked up 11 kills and 23 digs for the Lynx.

Teuila Lolotai provided 32 assists and 15 digs for Dimond's balanced attack.

South received 11 kills and four blocks from Savanna Davis. Amber Esplin added nine kills and two blocks.

Emma Kleven handed out 41 assists and nabbed 12 digs in the Wolverines' back row.

East 3, Eagle River 0

Led by Celeste Filoialii's eight aces, East used a strong showing at the service line to stop Eagle River in three sets Friday in a Cook Inlet Conference volleyball match at East High.

The T-birds had 19 aces in the 25-7, 25-15, 25-10 win.

Morgan Zinn helped East with nine kills and 11 digs, Nicolette Dabbs had 17 assists and seven digs, and Filoialii added five kills.

Grace 3, ACS 1

Annie VanderWeide furnished a double-double to spark Grace Christian in a four-set volleyball win over rival ACS Friday night.

VanderWeide tallied 10 kills and 19 digs while serving four aces to lead the Grizzlies in the 25-16, 25-17, 24-26, 25-15 win.

Kaitlin Cowell served three aces to go with 26 assists and three kills for Grace, which got a team-high 24 digs from Anna Christiansen.
