Prep hockey: Wins for Service and West, a tie for Dimond

Palmer Hockey Showdown

The Wasilla Warriors didn't have a second to spare Saturday when forging a 5-5 tie with the Dimond hockey team.

Alex Engan scored with one tick remaining on the clock to rob victory the Lynx at the Palmer Hockey Showdown at the MTA Center.

It was the second straight day the Lynx and Warriors had to settle for a tie at the tournament, which doesn't have an overtime format. On Friday, Dimond tied Colony 3-3 and Wasilla tied South 4-4.

Colony also picked up another tie Saturday — the Knights and East skated to a 3-3 deadlock. In other tournament action, South beat Colony 6-5.

For Dimond, Garrett Peters scored two goals, Jaiden Gibson had a goal and assist and Tyler Graeber and Sean Carey had one goal apiece.

Russell Harren scored twice and supplied two assists for Wasilla. Dylan Abbott and Garrett Conroy also provided goals.

West 16, Bartlett 2

West's Mac Fair piled up four goals and seven others scored at least once Saturday to propel the Eagles past Bartlett 16-2 in a Cook Inlet Conference hockey game at Ben Boeke Arena.

Service 5, Chugiak 3

Fueled by Tyler Millar's two goals and one assist, Service picked up a 5-3 CIC hockey win over Chugiak at Ben Boeke Arena on Saturday.

Goals from Nick McVay and Anthony Roberts gave Service a 2-0 lead after one period, and both teams found the net three times in the second period.

Kadin Yokey scored a goal and an assist to lead Chugiak, whose other goals came from Jacob Kosinski and Zachary Krajnik. Ryan Reid had Service's other goal.

Service goaltender Kevin Taunton stopped 27 shots, and Chugiak's Jack Walters turned back 20.
