West skiers dominated the first day of the two-day Lynx Loppet Invitational ski races with the top overall team finishes and the top two individual winners Friday at Kincaid Park.
Luke Jager won the two-lap, 6.1-kilometer classic boys race in 15 minutes, 45.3 seconds and Molly Gellert won the girls race in 19:31.0.
Service's Gus Schumacher finished eight seconds behind Jager and nearly a minute ahead of third-place Sam York of West, who finished in 16:45.8.
West Valley's Kendall Kramer (19:38.5) and West's Magdalen York (19:53.3) finished second and third, respectively, in the girls race.
As a team, West finished first by about three minutes in both races.
Twenty teams and more than 500 racers competed in Friday's races. The Lynx Loppet continues at noon Saturday with freestyle pursuit races based on Friday's finishes.
Jager and Schumacher will start eight seconds apart, but they'll have nearly a minute to distance themselves from the rest of the pack.
The girls race will begin much closer with none of the first 10 racers starting more than 22 seconds ahead of the next competitor.
On Friday, the skiers raced on artificial snow at Kincaid Park.
