One weekend of wrestling, one state title for Dimond's Pili

Alissa Pili's brief wrestling season ended with a state championship Saturday night.

Pili, who didn't compete until this weekend, won the 220-pound title in the girls competition at the state wrestling championships at the Alaska Airlines Center.

She pinned Sterling Magnuson of Mt. Edgecumbe in just less than three minutes in Saturday night's championship finals.

It was her fourth match of the weekend – and of the season. She won all four.

Pili didn't wrestle during the regular season or at last week's Cook Inlet Conference championships, because there was no one else in the CIC in her weight class. All she she had to do at the CIC meet was weigh in.

North Pole and Mt. Edgecumbe both produced two girls champions — Kailey Fowlkes and Raeann Jackson for North Pole and Agatha Andrews and Sydnee Kimber for Mt. Edgecumbe.

Other winners were Krystal Fabricante of Kodiak at 120 pounds, Adrienne Toyuka of Service at 132 and McKenzie Cook of Homer at 145.
