Girls hoops: Wins for Dimond, Bartlett, Chugiak, West

West 52, South 49

Nyeniea John racked up 16 points and 14 rebounds Tuesday to help the West Eagles girls basketball team edge South.

West held a slim lead throughout most of the Cook Inlet Conference game at South High.

Dymond Fields chipped in 11 points for the Eagles. South was led by Nani Garner's 13 points and Maddy Ayers' 11 points.

Dimond 86, East 55

A high-scoring game from Jahnna Hajdukovich and a double-double from Alissa Pili powered the Dimond Lynx past East on Tuesday.

Hajdukovich poured in 23 points in the 86-55 CIC victory at East High.

Pili piled up 18 points and 13 rebounds and Victoria Johansen added 16 points for the Lynx.

Dimond won the game with a 33-17 run in the third quarter that crippled East's comeback hopes.  Kaylonee Thompson and Daisy Page led the T-Birds with 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Bartlett 53, Eagle River 31

Fueled by Kianna McWhite's 13 points and seven rebounds, the Bartlett Golden Bears cruised past Eagle River 53-31 Tuesday in a CIC game in Eagle River.

Brandee Hawley added 12 points and Kalo Uhila had 10 points and six blocks for Bartlett.

Chyna Finley hit 13 of 16 foul shots to finish with a team-high 15 points for Eagle River.

Chugiak 78, Service 12

Five Chugiak players posted double figures Tuesday in a 78-12 CIC victory over host Service.

Chasity Selden led all scorers with 16 points and was joined in double digits by Eva Palmer (14), Layla Beam (11), Randi McMullen (10) and Cortney Kuhlman (10).

Archangels split with Huskies

The Lumen Christi girls won and the boys lost in a Tuesday basketball doubleheader against the Redington Huskies.

The Class 1A Archangels beat the Class 3A Huskies 47-36 in the girls game. Julianne Estes scored a team-high 12 points and Chiamaka Lebechi and Maeve Bakic each scored 10 for Lumen Christi.

In the boys game, Redington scored more points in the fourth quarter than it did in the first three quarters to grab a 30-27 nonconference victory.

Lumen returns to the court Thursday for a doubleheader against Ninilchik that begins at 3:30 p.m.
