Girls prep basketball: Dimond, Chugiak, East, West grab wins

Dimond 81, South 38

Dimond outscored South by 16 points in the first quarter and never looked back on its way to an 81-38 victory in a Friday CIC girls basketball game at South.

The Lynx ended the first quarter up 20-4.

Always reliable Alissa Pili led the Lynx with 24 points and 13 rebounds, and Jahnna Hajdukovich supplied 20 points.

Nani Garner provided eight points for the Wolverines.

Chugiak 70, Eagle River 30

A trio of double-figure scorers helped Chugiak cruise past Eagle River 70-30 in a CIC girls game in Eagle River.

Chasity Horn led the way with 21 points, Nicole Pinckney tossed in 19 and Eva Palmer added 13. Palmer scored six in the first quarter to spot the Mustangs to a 16-6 lead.

Chyna Finley scored seven and Hannah Yaw six for the Wolves.

East 68, Bartlett 56

A trio of T-birds boosted East to a 68-56 CIC win over Bartlett.

Tennae Voliva (15 points), Azaria Robinson (14) and Sandin Kidder (14) carried the Thunderbirds, who held on after the Golden Bears cut their lead from 13 to two in the fourth quarter.

Brandee Hawley propelled Bartlett with 23 points, hitting seven 3s.

West 31, Service 30

Adait Moyong and Kalahari Ross-Leopoldo each netted eight points for West in a 31-30 CIC win over Service.

Service's Cina Mauna led all scorers with 10 points.

 

Nikiski 34, Grace Christian 32

Nikiski edged Grace Christian 34-32 at Grace Christian.

The Bulldogs nearly surrendered a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter.

Bethany Carstens led a balanced Nikiski team with 11 points. Ayla Pitt added four points and 11 rebounds.

Annie VanderWeide paced the Grizzlies with a game-high 23 points and Makenna Shamburger pulled down nine rebounds.
