Girls prep basketball: Wins for East, Bartlett, Dimond; Nikiski takes Grace tourney

East 72, West 44

East used a big second-quarter run to pull away in a 72-44 win over West in a Cook Inlet Conference girls basketball game Saturday at East.

The T-birds blew open a tied game with a 12-0 run to start the second quarter.

East was led by Azaria Robinson (14 points), Kaylonee Thompson (12) and Daisy Page (11).

West's Nene John garnered a double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds.

Bartlett 43, Service 29

Kalo Uhila and Kiznna McWhite combined for 26 points to lead Bartlett past Service 43-29 in a CIC game Saturday at Service.

Katie Peirce put in eight points for the Cougars.

Dimond 84, Eagle River 25

Alissa Pili dropped 26 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lift Dimond over Eagle River 84-25 in a CIC game at Eagle River.

Jahnna Hajdukovich added 18 points for the Lynx.

Lauryn Green led the Lady Wolves with eight points and Shade Gopie supplied seven.

Lady Grizzly Classic

Nikiski capped its dominant run through the Lady Grizzly Classic with a 47-28 victory over Sitka in the championship Saturday at Grace Christian.

The Bulldogs, which won all three of their tournament games by at least 19 points, were led by Bethany Carstens with 23 points.

Nikiski held Sitka scoreless in the first quarter and pulled away from there.

In the third-place game, Nome rolled past Point Hope 52-44 behind 18 points from Kastyn Lie.

In the tournament's longest game, Kotzebue downed Grace Christian 45-43 in double overtime.

Alanna Conwell (14 points) and Ashley Ramoth (13) spearheaded the Huskies, who kept the Grizzlies off the scoreboard in the second overtime.

Annie VanderWeide registered 13 points for Grace Christian.

Monroe Catholic topped Homer 34-23 in the seventh-place game.
