Lumen Christi girls, Birchwood boys take big wins

Four double-digit scorers boosted Lumen Christi past Birchwood Christian 59-18 Tuesday in a girls basketball game at Lumen Christi.

The Archangel's received a game-high 17 points from Maeve Bakic during the Senior Night victory. Chiamaka Lebechi added 14 points.

In the boys game, Birchwood Christian stomped Lumen Christi 64-36.

Collin Becker had a game-high 28 points and Bradley Nunley supplied 10 for Birchwood.

Chiebuka Lebechi's 14 points and Jarrett Fortune's 11 led Lumen Christi.

All four teams will compete in the Peninsula Conference tournament, beginning March 1 in Homer.

Dimond girls 76, Wasilla 60

Dimond burst out to a 20-point lead in the first quarter and held on to beat Wasilla 76-60 in a nonconference girls basketball game Monday at Wasilla.

Alissa Pili piled up 33 points and 15 rebounds for a double-double and Victoria Johansen supplied 13 points.

Wasilla was led by McKenna Dinkel with 15 points. Catherine Baham and Azlynn Brandenburg each added 14.
