Cougars top Eagle River boys in CIC soccer

Azzam Azzam used his head for the second day in a row to help the Service Cougars win a soccer game.

Azzam's header late in the second half, coupled with Japheth Taylor's goal in the first period, lifted Service to a 2-0 win over Eagle River in a Cook Inlet Conference match in Eagle River. On Wednesday, a header by Azzam helped the Cougars beat Juneau 3-1.

Both teams played solid defense. A quality save by Service goalkeeper Cooper Bailey-Parsons late in the game preserved the shut out.

In other games Thursday, Juneau registered a sweep of Chugiak, with the boys winning 5-1 and the girls winning 2-0.
