CIC softball: Wins for South, East, Service

South 8, East 6

Emma Kleven slugged a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth to seal South's 8-6 Cook Inlet Conference softball victory over East in a Saturday game at Albrecht Fields.

The game was 5-5 after four innings. South took a 7-6 lead in the fifth and held East scoreless in the sixth to preserve its advantage.

Danni Desjarlais pitched a complete game for the Wolverines, striking out eight while scattering six hits. She also contributed at the plate with two RBIs on two hits.

Kleven finished with three hits, two RBIs and two runs and Sydney Bulot drove in three runs on two hits to help South survive a pair of errors.

For East, Nicollette Dabbs belted a two-run homer, Precious Tofoeono drove in two runs and Daisy Page scored twice.

East 9, West 4

East scored four runs in the third inning and the fifth inning to rally past West 9-4 in a CIC softball game Saturday at Albrecht Fields.

West led 4-1 after the top of the third, but East grabbed a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the inning. The Thunderbirds expanded their lead to 9-4 in the fifth.

East pitcher Daisy Page silenced the West bats late in the game, holding the Eagles scoreless in the fourth and fifth innings.

South 16, Dimond 2

South racked up 15 hits in three innings to coast past the Dimond softball team 16-2 Saturday at Albrecht Fields.

The Wolverines piled up eight doubles in the victory, including two apiece by Kate Duclos and Danni Desjarlais.

Service 16, Bartlett 1

Kamryn Frisk and Gabby Broek supplied two hits apiece Friday to help Service swamp Bartlett 16-1 in CIC softball action.

The Cougars finished with nine hits, including a home run by Frisk, who finished with three RBIs.
