CIC softball: Mergen smashes seven RBIs in 2 Chugiak wins

Chugiak wins 2 in doubleheader against Eagle River

Chugiak downed Eagle River 11-1 and 18-2 in a Cook Inlet Conference softball doubleheader on Friday at Lions Park.

Kylie Seagroves pitched both games for Chugiak, notching a one-hitter and two-hitter in the circle. Seagroves went 3 for 5 with five RBIs in the first game and went 3 for 4 in the late game.

Chugiak's Allegra Mergen went 7 for 7 with seven RBIs over the two games.

South 21, Bartlett 1

Emma Kleven and Danni Desjarlais combined for a six-strikeout no-hitter in South's 21-1 softball victory over Bartlett on Friday at Bartlett High.

South's Tristen Tolan, Ashton Jessee and Maddie Moser each tallied doubles and Sophie Hultberg registered a triple in the CIC game.

On Thursday, Bartlett split a doubleheader with Palmer. The Golden Bears won the first game 12-8, with pitcher Haylee Masher earning the win.

Palmer snagged the second game 16-15.

Service 12, Bartlett 2

A big-six run second inning boosted Service in a 12-2 CIC softball win Friday over Bartlett.

Pitcher Kamryn Frisk earned the win for the Cougars, allowing two runs, two hits, striking out six and walking one in four innings.

Haily Greening and Sosefina Aukusitino led Service with two hits apiece and Anna Wen stole two bases.
