Bartlett surprises East in flag football

Sophomore Ayanna Lauofo turned in an impressive performance on both sides of the football Saturday to lift Bartlett to a 13-8 upset of East in a Cook Inlet Conference flag football game.

Lauofo threw two touchdown passes, amassed 58 rushing yards and 73 passing yards and grabbed 15 flags for the Golden Bears.

"She was dialed in," Bartlett coach Clarence Smith said. "She played both ways the entire way."

Bartlett struck on its opening drive with Lauofo's 2-yard pass to Dannisha Naufahu.

East answered with Patience Barney's 85-yard bomb to Emma Butcher. A safety courtesty of Tatum Epperson's pull in the end zone gave the T-birds an 8-7 lead.

Lauofo's 11-yard scoring pass to Kianna McWhite put Bartlett back on top in the second quarter, and neither team scored again.

Epperson and Jessica Titzel each finished with eight pulls and Kimora Nicdao had six to lead the East defense.
