Eagle River lefthander Braden Olmstead pitched the first true no-hitter of the Cook Inlet Conference baseball season, a tidy, 70-pitch performance in a 1-0 victory over Dimond.

The win was made possible by Brendan Miles' walkoff single in the bottom of the seventh inning Saturday at Mulcahy Stadium. The hit by Miles drove in Sterling Retzlaff, who ripped a leadoff triple.

Olmstead, who struck out four, is the first pitcher this season to go a full seven innings without giving up a hit. He faced the minimum of 21 batters, although two Dimond batters reached base. The first was erased by a double play, and the other was caught stealing.

Eagle River pounded out six hits in the victory.

Chugiak 4, West 2

Chugiak handed West its first CIC loss of the season, a 4-2 victory at Mulcahy Stadium that showcased the arm and the bat of Justin Rocco Nevells.

Nevells drove in the go-ahead run in the fifth inning and then earned the save by pitching the final four outs.

The outcome leaves Chugiak, West and South tied for first place in the eight-team CIC. All boast 5-1 conference records.

Regular-season play continues through Tuesday, and then the top four teams advance to the conference playoffs beginning Friday at Mulcahy Stadium.

South 10, East 0

Terren Sugita pitched five innings of no-hit ball and Lian Lincoln had a big day at the plate Saturday to power South past East 10-0 at Mulcahy Stadium.

Sugita struck out nine and walked one. Lincoln went 2 for 3 with two RBIs and two runs.
